This is the third Kippy I have brought for my dogs as having used another of other makes I have to say that this one is the best of the bunch. I have two hunting Labradors / Cross who like swimming and previous tracking devices were only water resistant where as the Kippy is a contained until so it means the water does not entry the unit and render it useless ( unlike others that you charge with a usb and have a plug to cover the socket). The ability to use the live tracking is great when we are in open woodland and provides a good fix for both dogs. The ability to also see how much excerise they have done in a day is a bonus and acts like a Fitbit for dogs. The only downside , like all other trackers I have tried, is the battery life. The more you use the ‘ live track ‘ function the shorter the battery span. Saying that , it will last 3-4 days with solid use so I guess if your dogs are not as active as a pair of working labs it should last longer. All in all it’s been the best tracker I have found in the last 5 years.

I have had this product for four weeks and it has failed to log our walks 99% of the time. Support from Kippy is rude and very unhelpful. It turns out that Bluetooth has to be off on your device and the Kippy screen open and activate for the tracking to work. If you lock the screen the device stops tracking and becomes inactive after five minutes. If you want to walk your dog whilst straining at your phone screen then it’s great.

We decided to get a tracker for our dog after he suddenly decided to disappear for 40 mins on a walk a few weeks ago. After careful research we went for this Kippy tracker. Having now used it a number times, including simulating a loss of our dog, I can say overall it’s an impressive bit of kit. The fact it utilises multiple forms of communication (Bluetooth and GSM) and location tracking (A-GPS, GPS and WiFi) makes it highly accurate, resilient and offers impressive battery life as it reserves the need for high power tracking options (such as GPS) for when you’ve actually lost your dog. Working in telecoms selling multi-network SIM solutions I was impressed and pleased to see they advertise which networks they use for GSM coverage in each country - this is important to know as you may regularly walk in an area you know has less than perfect coverage for a given operator and you want to ensure the places your frequent are going to have service for the best possible tracking abilities. The virtual leash is a great idea, especially if you walk in wooded areas where you may not have line of sight of your dog all the time and need to know they have strayed a little too far away from you. If you do put it in “Live” mode where GPS is constantly updating, it gives real-time and accurate tracking not only of where your dog is, but the path they took as well which can really help with tracking them down. If you are happy to charge your Kippy daily this might be something you prefer to leave on all the time rather than only enable if you need to find your pet. The compass pointer available in Live mode is also great and makes it super simple to walk in the direction of your lost pet. The attachment to the back of our dog’s harness is very secure. I’ve no concerns about it accidentally coming off. If the (seemingly super strong!) Velcro becomes less effective over a couple of years I note they sell replacements for only £20 which is reasonable as a wear and tear cost. On a small/medium dog I would definitely recommend using it on a hardness rather than a collar though, while it is very compact, it would likely annoy a smaller dog being under its chin constantly (not to mention being on their back will improve GPS/Mobile reception). Not necessarily a bad point, but be aware that the small power button is quite difficult to press. If you suffer with mobility or strength problems in your hands this could prove an issue for you. On the flip side, I understand they’ve made it relatively difficult as you don’t want your dog to get it pressed up against something and accidentally turn it off while you are searching for them! The one feature I would really love to see added to Kippy is the ability to have multiple sub-users on an account/device. We have a dog walker and friends/family than sometimes walk our dog and I’m not comfortable sharing the primary email/password for the Kippy account with them (which is the current recommended method for sharing and how my Wife and I both share the Kippy right now). Should this feature be added I will edit this review and increase to 5 stars.

It's difficult to give this more than 3 stars at the moment, because although it appears to be working correctly, the battery indicator is completely unreliable. On more than one occasion it's read as almost dead only to plug it in and then immediately read 100%. Is it charged? How the heck am I supposed to know? What if my cat goes missing and it turns out that it actually has no power left despite saying so? The subscription model is also pretty poor, if you don't pay for 12 months up front as a minimum you're getting gubbed with limited tracking despite paying more per month and still being tied into a 4 month subscription. How that makes any sense I don't really understand, but be prepared to spend an additional £69.99 on top of the tracker. As far as positives, it fits nicely and doesn't seem to bother my cat even though he's on the smaller side. It hasn't fallen off yet, but it does have a flashing light feature should it ever go missing. It seems as though you can transfer your subscription to a new one if it ever does get permanently lost, so that's useful. The actual tracking isn't perfect but it does get the general area correct (as you should hope) within around 2-5 meters I would say. Close enough to be able to find your pet if they did get lost.

My kitten went missing a few weeks ago and was very Oviously trapped in a garage or shed as he came back starving. I bought this to try and prevent it happening again. It's an absolute live saver. It puts my mind at ease knowing of he did wo der off again I would know where abouts he is. I really enjoy the fitbit style activitie monitor which tells you how many steps, calories he burns etc. Even let's you know if he's being lazy. Oviously being gps it's not 100 accurate to location but I have found it's only about 20 feet or so off which in reality isn't much at all. Great product. Also seems big but my boy doesn't care and actually begs for me to put it on him every morning so he can explore

The kippy is great! My dog goes off on his adventures the whole time and the kippy gives me really good peace of mind that he’s actually never far away and it’s very precise when I go to find him. Only downsides would be if the battery could last a bit longer but it’s really helpful the app notifies me when it’s running low.

Après plusieurs semaines d’utilisation du GPS Kippy pour mon chien, je peux dire que c’est un excellent investissement pour les propriétaires soucieux de la sécurité de leur animal. Voici mon avis détaillé : Points positifs : Localisation précise : La géolocalisation fonctionne parfaitement, même dans des zones boisées ou à faible réseau. Suivi en temps réel : L’application est intuitive et permet de suivre facilement les déplacements de mon chien en direct. Autonomie satisfaisante : La batterie tient plusieurs jours (4 à 5 selon mon expérience), ce qui évite de devoir recharger constamment. Résistant : Le dispositif est robuste, résiste à l’eau et aux jeux un peu turbulents de mon chien. Fonctionnalités complémentaires : L’application propose des options comme le suivi d’activité et des alertes en cas de sortie de zone, très pratiques. Points négatifs : Abonnement nécessaire : L’achat du GPS implique de souscrire un abonnement, ce qui peut être un frein pour certains. Temps de chargement : Le chargement de la batterie peut prendre un peu de temps (environ 3 heures). Conclusion : Malgré le coût de l’abonnement, je suis entièrement satisfait du GPS Kippy. Il m’a permis de retrouver mon chien en un rien de temps lorsqu’il s’est échappé. C’est un outil rassurant, fiable et facile à utiliser. Si vous cherchez un moyen sûr de surveiller votre compagnon à quatre pattes, je recommande fortement ce produit.
